The blurb:

Hopeless romantic Eva Jordan loves everything about Christmas. She might be spending the holidays alone this year, but when she’s given an opportunity to housesit a spectacular penthouse on Fifth Avenue, she leaps at the chance. What better place to celebrate than in snow-kissed Manhattan?
What she didn’t expect was to find the penthouse still occupied by its gorgeous–and mysterious–owner.
Bestselling crime writer Lucas Blade is having the nightmare before Christmas. With a deadline and the anniversary of his wife’s death looming, he’s isolated himself in his penthouse with only his grief for company. He wants no interruptions, no decorations and he certainly doesn’t appreciate being distracted by his beautiful, bubbly new housekeeper. But when the blizzard of the century leaves Eva snowbound in his apartment, Lucas starts to open up to the magic she brings…
This Christmas, is Lucas finally ready to trust that happily-ever-afters do exist?

My Opinion:

*Book provided by the publisher on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*

This is Sarah Morgan’s third book in the From Manhattan With Love series and I was very excited to read this book. I absolutely adored the first two books and fell in love with the characters.

So the great thing was that I already knew the main character of this one Eva. She is a hopeless romantic and lost her grandmother (the only family she had) not too long ago. With both her best friends Paige and Frankie in serious relationships, she is the lonely one and doesn’t really do anything about it.

However, a work opportunity shows up and suddenly she sees herself in this 5th Avenue Penthouse for “house sitting”. The surprise about it?! The mysterious, sexy, gorgeous and also a bit moody owner Lucas Blade. He is a famous crime writer who lost his wife and now he’s isolated himself from the world. He also has difficulties writing his next book.

Their first meeting is very dramatic and definitely like a scene out of a movie. He doesn’t want her to stay and is really arrogant and sulky. Eva however, is determined to stay and she does.

The more time they spend with each other, the more they talk and they get to know each other on a really deep level. She is totally herself with him and is finally willing to let go and change something about her life. And him?! Well, he has found his inspiration to write.

The scenes and moments between them were my favourite in this book, they included so much passion and I just got hooked. Their chemistry is amazing and Sarah found a great way to describe it through her writing. There is a mystery behind him, which made him even more attractive and then there was the way he treated her and they way he spoke to her that made my heart melt.

I also felt really close to Eva in certain aspects, I kind of saw myself in her, but at the same time she she made decisions that I questioned. This made her very interesting. It’s save to say that I was very intrigued by both of them.

The atmosphere surrounding them was unique and storyline flowed beautifully. The question only was, if he could learn to love again and if she could finally let go. Both their journeys were very emotional and touching.

I also really loved seeing all the other characters again: Paige and Jake, as well as Frankie and Matt. What they all share with Eva is a great friendship and that was fantastic to read about. Oh and Sarah also mention Snow Crystal, a winter resort in Vermont, great memory to previous book by her. Actually a trip there for these characters would be fab ;).

Another thing I really enjoyed in this book is getting to know a person who writes crime fiction. Lucas’ way of thinking, his thoughts and inspiration for a story or a character and then also seeing him in comparison to Eva. They are so different, but still very close to each other. Of course there is some drama and heartache in this story, which only makes it even more special and gripping.

And then there is the fact that the book is set in New York and also around Christmas time. It’s really magical and the perfect festive read.

I’m actually really sad of leaving this story and the series, it’s BRILLIANT and just AMAZING! Can’t wait for Sarah’s next book.
