A Sudden Crush– by Camilla Isley

Original Cover
My own copy

The blurb:

Joanna Price is a city girl with the perfect life. She loves her job as a book editor, she just married Liam, high profile bestselling author and the man of her dreams, and she’s headed to the Caribbean to enjoy two weeks of paradise for her luxurious honeymoon.
Connor Duffield is a gruff, grumpy rancher from the Midwest. He is a country boy who has a no-nonsense approach to life, more scars than he’d like to admit, and he hates city girls.

So it’s just a misfortune they have to sit next to each other for a six hour plane ride. Even more so when their flight is caught in the perfect storm and Joanna wakes up stranded on a desert island with Connor, the very man she hoped she would never have to see again.

Why are they alone on this forsaken island? What happened to Joanna’s husband?

When her dream honeymoon turns into a hilarious tropical nightmare, Joanna’s first thought is survival. However, she and Connor will quickly discover just how boring paradise can be. As the days turn to weeks, and then months, this mismatched pair will have to learn how to coexist and how to resist the sparkles of an attraction they weren’t prepared to feel.

When they are finally rescued will Joanna’s marriage be saved as well, or will the life she knew and loved be in ruins?

My Opinion:

*Book provided by the author in exchange for an honest review*

I don’t even know how to start this review. I’m so torn with this book!!!

I finished it within a day, read the first part before going to bed and finished it in bed in the morning (yay Sundays!). The writing and the characters got me hooked immediately. And to be honest I just wanted for something to happen between Joanna and Connor. When it didn’t, I just had to continue reading!!!

Joanna Price is a successful book editor from Chicaago. She is passionate, positive, joyful, creative and full of energy, I loved following her around.
Connor Duffield is practically her opposite. He is grumpy, seems arrogant at first and complains about everything.

Of course destiny wants them to sit next to each other on the plane that crashes, leaving them both on a desterted island. That’s where it started though. So she wasn’t sitting next to her husband, on the way to their honeymoon. They forgot checking-in online and then several things delay them on their way to the aiport. A bit too much for me to be honest. And then they land on a island, only the two of them?! She still has her bag with useful things and even a solar charger for her phone. For me that just all didn’t make sense at all. That wouldn’t be the case in real life.

On the island Joanna and Connor have to spend a lot of time together and I loved seeing that they warmed up to each other and also opened up. They started sharing more and we learnt a lot about their past, which makes Connor’s behaviour clearer.

Then after five months, her brother finds them… That’s where it’s starts again. Her “husband” is now married to the woman that was sitting next to him on the plane. Yes, ok he thought she was dead, but after five months?!

After that Joanna slowly started getting her life together again. After losing her job she starts her own oublishing company and even starts writing her very own book. At events she sees Liam again (ex-husband), which makes everything weird and complicated and what about Connor?

Well, you really have to wait until the very end to find out. The ending I adored.

Unfortunately, several facts just pull down the rating of this book for me. On one hand I really enjoyed and loved it, I even got hooked (especially because of Camilla's writing). On the other hand, I thought that it all didn’t make sense at all, it’s very unlogical and far away from real life. So the storyline just didn’t work for me. It might work for some people and my issues don’t bother you, but for my it’s one of the most important parts of a story.
